Ensuring Product Ethics

From the origin of our materials to the finished product, through supply chain integrity and responsible practices, through traceability to due diligence and collaboration, ensuring product ethics is a cornerstone of our commitment to Spreading Happiness.

Our commitment

Product ethics means knowing where a stone comes from, verifying what it is, and ensuring that every partner involved in its journey works to the same responsible standards.

Alongside Elevating People and Caring for Nature, product ethics is part of the group's purpose of Spreading Happiness. It brings together three practices embedded across the manufacture: provenance and traceability, in-house naturality verification, and responsible sourcing.

Each step is documented and dated. Where independent bodies are involved, verification is carried out externally, ensuring consistency from rough stone to finished piece.

Every claim on this page is recorded, dated, and independently verified where applicable.

  • Provenance & traceabilityFollowing each stone from rough material to finished piece.
  • Naturality verificationVerified in-house through established gemmological processes.
  • Responsible sourcingMaterials sourced according to defined ethical, sustainable and supply chain standards.
  • CertificationExternal bodies verify selected practices and commitments.
  • Documented standardsOne framework, applied across every stage of the journey.

Origin & traceability

Every diamond is recorded in the group's ERP system, with traceability maintained from rough stone to polished gem. Origin traceability continues to improve year by year, while the process is being progressively digitalised across the group.

Naturality verification

Before entering inventory, every stone undergoes in-house naturality verification. Certified gemmologists screen 100% of stones using established gemmological methods and advanced instrumentation.

  • In-house laboratories

Three laboratories operate under NIRU supervision: Bangkok for colored stones, and Sri Lanka and Israel for diamonds. Screening is carried out in-house, ensuring consistency throughout the verification process.

  • Certified gemmologists

Verification is performed by certified gemmologists whose qualifications are maintained through continuous professional development, including GGTL recertification every two years.

  • Specialist equipment

Diamonds and colored stones are screened using advanced gemmological instrumentation, selected to meet the requirements of each material.

Responsible sourcing

Precious materials are sourced through suppliers that meet NIRU’s ethical, environmental and responsible sourcing requirements. Diamonds and colored stones are sourced primarily through mining companies and RJC-certified suppliers, while all suppliers are required to commit to the group’s Supplier Code of Conduct.
